Youth Athletic Program

WHAT THEY’LL GAIN

  • Weight room confidence and proper lifting technique

  • Speed, agility, and coordination development

  • A competitive mindset and supportive community

  • Personalized attention from performance coaches

How It Works

  • 1–5 athletes per session for personalized support.

  • Athlete progress is tracked through a structured testing approach that measures strength, explosiveness, speed, and overall performance capacity. Testing is conducted periodically to monitor development, highlight strengths, and identify areas for improvement.

Each athlete is evaluated on movements appropriate to their skill level, with coaches tailoring variations to ensure both safety and progression.

    Strength

    • Squat

    • Bench Press

    • Deadlift (or appropriate variation)

    Explosiveness

    • Box Jump

    • Broad Jump

    • Hang Clean

    Speed

    • 5-10-5 Agility Test

    • 10-Yard Fly Sprint

    Advanced Performance Tools
To complement on-the-floor testing, athletes also undergo assessments using:

    • InBody Analysis – for body composition, lean mass, and balance

    • Keiser Machines – to measure power, force, and velocity output

    • Pnoe VO₂ Max Testing – for advanced cardiovascular performance and endurance tracking

By combining traditional athletic benchmarks with advanced performance technology, SCAC provides athletes with a comprehensive picture of their development and a clear path forward in training.

Meet Our Coaches

  • D'Shawn Hopkins

    Personal Trainer, HIIT Instructor

D’Shawn has been a personal trainer since 2020 and brings energy, positivity, and consistency to every session. A former Division 1 football athlete at UC Berkeley, D’Shawn is passionate about helping clients reach their goals—whether that’s building strength, losing weight, or simply feeling more confident in the gym.

His coaching style focuses on consistency over motivation, creating a welcoming environment where the gym feels less intimidating and more like home. D’Shawn believes confidence built in the gym carries over into everyday life, helping clients tackle challenges both inside and outside the weight room. He works with a wide range of clients, including busy parents, kids, and athletes, and enjoys introducing young athletes to the mindset and work ethic of a Division 1 competitor.

Known for his positive energy and encouraging coaching style, D’Shawn also leads high-energy RedRoom classes and thrives on helping clients feel comfortable with the uncomfortable. His favorite part of the job is watching people fall in love with the gym, gain confidence, and bring their fitness goals to life—always with hard work, consistency, and a lot of fun along the way.

  • Will Geary

    Personal Trainer

Will has been training for a decade and brings a lifelong connection to movement and fitness into his coaching. He helps clients work toward weight loss, sport-specific performance, and improved functional fitness, mobility, and flexibility.

Will works with athletes and outdoor-focused individuals, as well as those returning to the gym and looking to build sustainable routines. His approach emphasizes reconnecting clients with their bodies, improving how they move, and building strength that supports both training and everyday life.

Outside the gym, Will loves spending time outdoors rock climbing, mountain biking, and hiking. He also enjoys live music and slowing down by the ocean, where he often writes. His favorite part of coaching is watching clients progress toward their goals and develop a deeper connection with their bodies along the way.
